How to... Manage your expenses in three easy steps with Curve
Whether you're managing a business, or trying to keep track of your spending here and there, one buzzword that's always bound to crop up is "Expenses". We cover the 'What Is?' of expense management right here on our blog!
So, in the first of our 'How To' series, we caught up with the Curve Customer Success team - you can meet Anna here, and Mike here - in order to find out how take your business expenses from manic to managed with Curve in three easy steps. Here's what they said:
(1) Carry all your bank cards in one with Curve
If you're a freelancer, self-employed, or the founder and managing director of a small business, you'll likely find that your expenses cover everything from the roof you're working under, to that coffee meeting you've arranged for next week with a potential client.
That's a wide range of expenses - for cash-strapped and on-the-go freelancers and businesses, that could mean carrying a lot of cards. Add spend limits and employee expenses into the equation, and it starts to get very messy very quickly.
With a couple of taps in the Curve app, you can add all your bank cards to Curve, giving you the ability to transform a wallet full of cards to each expense to all your expenses on one card. Simply tap the '+' button on your Curve home screen, snap a picture of your bank card, and you're good to go.
Top tip from Curve support: Using cards in a number of currencies? We currently support 15 major currencies around the world on the Curve app so you can get the most from your business spend, wherever you are.
(2) Spend, track and tag across all your cards on-the-go
You've just paid rent for your office, got some furniture in, and taken a quick business trip cross-country, all through your Curve. Whilst doing so, you noticed some push notifications pop up in real time on your Curve app.
You can tap those notifications and keep on top of your expenses as you spend right from the app. Open up the transaction and add a customizable note, a tag for your purchase, and then snap a picture of your receipt. You can even send receipts to your accounting email, DropBox, Slack and more, in real time. No paper, no time, no hassle.
Top tip from Curve support: add a personalised note or emoji to your transaction notes to get even more control over your expense logging - see how we did it with some Amazon shipments below!
(3) Export it all to your favourite accounting software
You've reached the end of the month and you've got to send all your expenses off to be processed. Fortunately, you've already sent off the receipts on-the-go, logged your transactions by category, and added any handy notes along the way. All that's left now is to export it to your favourite accounting software or spreadsheet.
Simply tap the export button on your Curve transaction screen, select the timeframe and the card(s) you're looking for data on, then send yourself a .csv file of your spend for that period.
